Is a Home Based Business the Key to the Life You Imagined

Are you living the life you imagined? When you were growing up you always dreamed big – a big house, fancy cars, exotic travels – but as adults many of us believe that the life we’ve imagined is unrealistic or unattainable. However quite the opposite is true. Sure you can work in corporate your whole life and eventually retire with a decent pension, but will you still want to do the same things at 60 that you wanted to do when you were 35? Or 45? Probably not. You trade your time, time you could otherwise be spending with your family or traveling, for the hopes of a large cash reward but the truth is you can’t trade time for money and expect to get rich. I’m a great example of someone who was caught in the corporate rat race until I found a home based business that was truly the key to my financial and time freedom.

Are you unhappy with your current career or occupation and find yourself wanting the finer things in life or the time to do what you want when you want to do it? A home based business may be the answer for you too. There are many things to consider when starting an enterprise from home, but the first question to ask is ‘What is most important to me?’

When you ask yourself ‘What is important to me?’ don’t limit yourself. Go back to that time when you were a kid and weren’t afraid to dream big. Maybe you want a five figure income every month. Maybe you want to explore Thailand for six months. Maybe it’s as simple as you just want to spend more time with your kids. Be specific about what you want. Write it down. For me it was time freedom so I could spend unlimited time traveling and with my family and financial freedom so I could afford everything in life that I desired. I didn’t want to be stuck in a cubicle, working 9 to 5 for minimal compensation. Answering this question will show you what your true motivation is for starting your home based business.

Once you have a clear picture of what motivates you to break away from your current situation you can begin to see how a home based business can allow you the lifestyle you’ve imagined. Imagine for a minute what your life would be like without 9 to 5. What would you do with your day if you were only working 4 hours per day? What would you buy if you made a five figure income every 30 days? How would you be living your life? Again, don’t be afraid to dream big! There are no rules to follow when imagining your ideal life.

A home based business gives you the choice of when and how you will work. You are your own boss so you decide if you will start working at 9 AM or 1 PM, and whether you will work for four hours a day or eight. Typically with the right opportunity you will generate more income in less time with a home based business than you ever could have in corporate. It’s amazing what happens when you start evaluating your income based on performance rather than physical presence. Most importantly you will find a huge improvement in your quality of life. You won’t be subjected to the pressures and stress of your current career or occupation. You’ll find yourself with the time to spend with your family and friends and the money to live the life you imagined.

Of course there are other things to consider when starting a home based business, like finding the right opportunity and having the right mindset. It’s important to implement time management so that you will maximize your efforts and to have a mentor who can guide you to success. Every journey starts with a single step. Let the first step for you be imagining your ideal life and finding your motivation.
